One of my favorite things about PAX East, besides waiting 2 hours to play a video game, is hanging out in the Arcade room. Tons of old school games and pinball machines. This weekend was pretty incredible.

I am genuinely bummed about Patrice O’Neil.

My family and close friends know that comedy has always been a huge part of my life. I was always watching standup acts and recording them onto blank tapes and I would watch them over and over until the tapes were pretty much worn out. My freshman year of high school I faked being sick because there was a Comedy Central Presents marathon and I HAD to record the whole thing. I had over 4 hours worth of stand up on these tapes and to this day his standup along with Bill Burr, Lewis Black, and Greg Giraldo, were some of the most memorable ones.
I’ve had the great opportunity to see him perform a few times and it was so amazing to watch. The passion and truthfulness of his performances were always so inspiring. It’s really sad when the world loses someone as real and creative as Patrice. It also hits a little closer to home since he is a local hero in the comedy world of Boston. He will definitely be missed by me and by many many more.
